New Aston Martin Virage Coupe and Volante are presented

An untrained eye would definitely not be able to make a clear distinction between the new pair of cars from Aston Martin and the brand's other models. A resurrection of the Virage name for a new coupe and cabriolet that sit between the DB9 and DBS has been made by Aston Martin, and, as the company officially announced, the technology from the DBS was efficiently capitalized by the Virage and combined with the refinement and comfort found in the Rapide and DB9. The company's well-known 6.0-liter V12 engine matched to a six-speed Touchtronic II automatic transmission mounted on the transaxle, powers the soft-top Volante and the Virage Coupe. This powerplant delivers 517HP and 420 lb-ft in the DBS and 477HP and 433 lb-ft for the DB9, so it seems quite natural for the Virage's V12 to produce 497HP and 420 lb-ft of peak torque. The 0-100 km/h sprint is accomplished in only 4.6 seconds with the Virage being able to continue up to a maximum speed of 299 km/h, which translates into 188 mph. Just for the sake of comparing, the numbers for the 510HP DBS are 4.3 seconds and 307 km/h, while the 477HP DB9 reaches 4.8 seconds and 306 km/h, respectively. Standard Carbon Ceramic Matrix brakes, Dynamic Stability Control system integrating bespoke settings as well as a new Adaptive Damping System with a specific tune, are featured by the Virage, which also adopts for the exterior a redesigned front bumper, a re-profiled rear bumper, different side sills, a fresh interpretation of Aston's side strake comprising six LEDs on the front wings, together with a new aluminum metal front grille with five horizontal vanes. High-quality materials were used for the interior of both Virage models, beginning with satellite navigation, cruise control, a 700W Aston Martin Premium Audio System incorporating Dolby Pro Logic II with full iPod integration, Bluetooth telephone preparation and colored piping. For the coupe form, the Virage will offer its customers the possibility of choosing a 2+2 or a two seater, and this latter option ensures a weight reduction together with a rear parcel shelf. After making its world debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March, the Virage is planned to go on sale shortly after.
